A reader wrote me a few days ago and informed me that even thou she didnt have anyone in her family struggling with Dementia, she thought my blog was "extremely" disrespectful towards my husband.
I have been pondering her opinion for days. Wondering and re-reading past posts. I did write her back and asked if it was because I wrote about the "funnier" side of things once in awhile or that I was just writing about it in general.
Of course I've heard nothing back. On one hand I was angry- How can someone who is not "suffering' through this terrible disease even offer up an opinion.. AND on the other hand... Maybe I am "lost" and am making a mistake by choosing this kind of forum to keep family and friends up to date?
I'll ponder awhile longer and no doubt Post again in a few days.. :)
I do not have a loved one diagnosed with dementia but I look forward to this blog daily. I know dementia symptoms can be different person to person, but to hear one dedicated spouse's account has been enlightening. After caring for my husband 4+ years until his death, I would never judge how one person handles this incredible amount of stress. I don't believe there is a "right" way. One day at a time Lori-whatever works for you. I'll be with you on your journey, whether you continue this blog or not. Jan
ReplyDeleteOne more thing....to the person who criticized Lori regarding this blog-use the delete button if you don't like it. No one is forcing you to read this.
ReplyDeleteA blog is a log, a journal, a diary, a personal accounting of what's going on in someone's life. It is not "the news". It is not "unbiased reporting". A blog is someone sharing their pain, opinions, joys, and life. Keep writing Lori ! peace
